Provider Terms
Last updated June 15, 2026
These terms govern your use of The Appt as a service provider. By creating a provider account, you agree to them. Please read them carefully.
1. Independent contractor relationship
You are an independent contractor, not an employee, partner, agent, or franchisee of The Appt. You control how, when, and where you perform your services. You set your own prices and services, choose your own hours, and decide which bookings to accept or decline. You use your own tools, products, and equipment.
Nothing in these terms creates an employment relationship. You are responsible for your own income taxes and any applicable sales tax (such as GST/HST), and for any business registration, licensing, and permits required for your work.
2. The Appt's role
The Appt is a platform that connects you with clients and provides booking, scheduling, payment processing, and related tools. The Appt is not a party to the service agreement between you and your clients, does not supervise or direct your work, and does not guarantee any minimum number of bookings or any level of earnings.
3. Fees and payments
Clients pay through the platform. The Appt currently charges a platform fee of 10% of your service price, so you keep 90% of your service price and 100% of any tips. Clients pay a separate booking fee, which does not come out of your earnings. Fees are subject to change, and we will give notice of any change as described in section 12.
Payouts are made to your connected payment account through our payment processor (Stripe), according to its payout schedule. You are responsible for keeping your payout and bank details accurate and up to date.
4. Your responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide your services professionally, safely, and lawfully.
- Hold and maintain any licenses, certifications, and insurance required for your services and your location.
- Keep your profile, services, prices, and availability accurate.
- Honour confirmed bookings and arrive on time, or give clients reasonable notice if you cannot.
- Comply with all applicable laws, including, if you work from a home or studio, any local zoning, business-licensing, and health regulations.
You are solely responsible for the services you provide and for their quality and safety.
5. Eligibility and approval
You must be at least the age of majority in your province and legally entitled to work. The Appt may approve, decline, suspend, or remove any provider at its discretion, including for reasons relating to conduct, safety, quality, or legal compliance.
6. Cancellations and conduct
You agree to follow the platform's cancellation policy and to treat clients respectfully. Repeated no-shows, late cancellations, or client complaints may result in suspension or removal from the platform.
7. Insurance and liability
You are responsible for carrying your own liability insurance and any other coverage appropriate to your work. To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Appt is not liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from the services you provide or from your interactions with clients.
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Appt from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising out of the services you provide, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Appt's total liability to you for any claim is limited to the total platform fees you paid to The Appt in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim. The Appt is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
10. Taxes
You are responsible for determining, collecting where required, and remitting all taxes related to your services, including income tax and GST/HST if applicable. The Appt does not withhold taxes on your behalf and does not provide tax advice.
11. Termination
You may stop using the platform at any time. The Appt may suspend or terminate your account as described in these terms. Outstanding payouts for completed bookings will be processed in the normal course.
12. Changes to these terms
The Appt may update these terms from time to time. We will communicate material changes, and your continued use of the platform after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the applicable laws of Canada. Any disputes will be handled in the courts of British Columbia.
